RISING STARS Q&A
Return to Q&A Home PageWhat if my staff or I can’t get into a MELDS or IT MELDS training before our Rising Stars for ME expiration date?
You can read last week’s Tip of the Week to learn more about who in your program is required to take which Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (MELDS) training. Read these requirements carefully, as they have changed from Quality for ME!
If there are staff in your program who need MELDS or IT MELDS training, you can find all scheduled offerings on the Statewide Training Calendar.
Staff who have completed the training Supporting Maine’s Infants and Toddlers: Guidelines for Learning and Development at any time since 2008 are eligible to complete the FREE, nine-hour on-demand training Bridge to IT MELDS. Log in to MRTQ On-Demand Training to enroll.
If your program finds that staff are unable to enroll in or complete the MELDS or IT MELDS training before your expiration date and that lack of the training will negatively affect your program’s rating with Rising Stars for ME, you can request an extension of your expiration date from the Office of Child and Family Services. You can email Amber Taurasi and Crystal Arbour to request an extension.
Make sure to check back for next week’s Tip of the Week where you can learn:
- Can my college coursework meet the requirements for MELDS or IT MELDS?
As always, please reach out to risingstarsforme@maine.edu with questions.
